NEW DELHI: Defending hike in power tariff, Union power minister Veerappa Moily on Wednesday said Delhi is not an exception, 27 states have also revised their power tariff structure in the last few months.
“The revision of tariff is important to give you qualitative power supply. Majority of the power distribution companies are grappling with huge losses due to lower realisation of tariff and high Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses,” said Moily.

Moily’s statement came in response to questions raised at CM Sheila Dikshit on rampant protests in Delhi on the issue of power tariff hike.
“You should approach DERC on that why do you ask me? It’s the media who has been raising these questions. RWAs don’t come to me. They understand that the issue rests with DERC,” said Dikshit. On increase in subsidy on power, she said “we already give it to poor who need cheap power”.
